Why do you say grace before eating dinner?

Question:
Before any meal or just dinner?

What does this signify?

I am not christian, just to let you know so.
Answer:
I'm an atheist, but I also take a moment of silent thanks before or during my meals. There are people in other countries and even in my own country who have little or nothing to eat, and I am thankful I can afford to feed myself. It's healthy to take notice of what some might call your "blessings" and show your appreciation for them. I believe theists say "grace" for the same reason, only, instead of being thankful in general, they are thankful to a god.
